Photos Duplicate Cleaner App Reviews

After learning another duplicate app only supported (iPhoto Library) 10.7 and later…..I found this Miracle for my previous Photos Library and it cleaned about 4,000 more duplicates. Yay!! I’m a happy girl.

It did everythin I asked it to and quickly.

I wrote a list of photo names down before doing the auto-delete algorithm, and then checked that the originals were still there. Works great. Make sure to run the auto select algorithm which chooses the preferred photo to keep.

It’s free and it got the job done quickly. What else is there to say.

I thouh that it would be easy to use but it wont take any of my pictures and most of the directions are in Japanese. Did not help at all.

The app removed my duplicates in an expected and efficient (very quick!) way. It also recognized two identical images but one with Live Photo and another as a Still, and didn’t suggest removing either of them (which is expected). Thank you!

Webroot Secure Anywhere flagged it as a theat upon installation and would not let it run at all.

What a fantastic app! It does exactly what it’s supposed to, it’s fast, and is super easy to use.

Im not sure what more I can say. I googled "erasing duplicate photos," this app came up, it was free, I installed it, and five minutes later all my duplicate photos were gone. Ive never had a library/system app work so easily.

I’m a software engineer myself, so I’m pretty picky about my applications. (Yeah, I know that sounds elitist, but I’m trying to make a point…). I don’t often rate apps, since I don’t have full confidence in the rating process — lots of ‘fixed’ reviews. Anyhow, when I do come across a great app, though, I need to talk it up. This one’s the latter. It does what it says it does, is super fast, light weight and easy to use. If I need to make a critique, it’s that I HATE popups on load, which tell me about BETTER software I can buy. It pretty much says “Hey, sucker — you just wasted your time searching for and downloading a good looking app, because here’s something better!” Sort of dings my ego, I s’pose. Insead, might I suggest that you put a link in the menu with a flow such as: “Like this app? Check out our others!” Since I do like your app, I’ll gladly check out your others. Anyhow, for those looking for a basic de-duper, this one is A-OK. To those whining about the strange process to delete dupes from Mac Photos/iPhoto, I can attest that this is a minor inconvenience, necessary due to the complex way Apple designed that app and its folder structure. The fact that this app can process an i/Photo/s library is FANTASTIC, and totally worth the extra 60 seconds it takes to read the screen and do what it tells you. Great job, Systweak Software!

Watched the Youtube video and followed along in the app. Worked great and in just a few minutes cleaned over 4000 duplicates and over 4 GB of space. Thank you!!!

This app was good at finding duplicates and quite fast considering the size of my photo library. It found over 3,800 duplicate images. However, scrolling through them is agonizingly slow, even on a new 5K iMac with max specs. The thumbnails are just placeholders and dont cache in until the scrolling stops, so it feels very laggy. I could live with this, but the BIG problem is that I get about 1/10th of the way down the list, making sure they are in fact duplicates, and then the program crashes. POOF. This has happened every time I try to use it. I could just trust it, mark all, and hit delete. But of course I have that nagging neccessity to look at the images and be sure they are in fact duplicates. Anyway, I expect these are just some cacheing and memory leak issues. If they could speed up the loading of image thumbnails and prevent crashing, this is a five star app. Unfortunately for now, unusable for me, and possible others with large (~50,000 image) libraries.

This is just the app I was looking for! I have over 7,000 photos and I got back a lot of much needed hard drive space by removing unwanted duplicate photos. Very easy to use and works very quickly. Thanks!!!

Finds duplicates quickly and easily but selecting the duplicates to delete is agonizingly slow, going through the whole photo library.

I used it 2 or 3 times and it worked fine, the first time it worked really well and the last two times it missed a few. But now it won’t detect any duplicates at all, and there are so many I’m drowning in them. Idk what’s up but I need a solution and this app isn’t giving me one.

I accidentally imported the same photos twice into the Photos app from my phone, and the app helped to go through all of my photos and accurately delete the duplicates. You literally press a few buttons, look through to make sure everything’s fine, and you’re done. It lets you check through multiple times, so you don’t accidentally delete pictures you still wanted or anything.

It only found photos that were an exact duplicate - others that were the same image but at different resolutions it didn’t report. Maybe the Pro version does more, I didn’t try it. Other tools did much better.

This does what it’s supposed to do and it’s free. It’s hard to know that it got all the duplicates, but time will tell as I view photos. All the photos it picked as duplicates were correct, though. The issues I had, it looks like others had as well. It only loads up thumbnails for a few photos at a time which slows down the process of checking before deleting. When I get around to doing the family computer, it’s going to take forever. I also would rather keep the process completely in this program without having to go to Photos to delete the images. Small complaints, but I would definitely give this 5 stars otherwise.
