Does what it says on the tin.

Unfortunately this did not locate a substantial portion of duplicates after a migration from iPhoto to Photos. Though recommended by Apple staff for this specific purpose I’m sorry to say it failed utterly and completely.

This app is awesome. It detects ALL duplicates and puts them in folder. You can then click one button up top and it will check all duplicates and you can them delete them. I had 42,000 photos, 12,000 of which were duplicates. This would have taken me 100’s of hours to clean up. This app is awesome!!!

Worked the first time and very easy to use. I spot checked and did not find any errors. Will probably purchase the PRO version as the Free just to save more space on my hard drive.

I downloaded from my phone hundreds of photos and used this app to sort everything. The functionality is great and it’s very easy to use also. I think more than 30% of my photos were duplicates and I’m glad I used this app. I recommend it!

My duplicates don’t transfer to the “duplicates” folder in photos like it’s suppose to. Also, I’m only writing this because it wouldn’t stop asking me to rate the app.

This app compares extractly same photos(same name, same resolution, same size) and let you choose which ones you need to delete.

over 21,000 photos in my photo library. App took about 1-2 minutes to scan and find 1,531 duplicates (what I was expecting). Used the auto-select tool to automatically select which photos to delete. Followed the prompts. Basically, it created a specially marked folder in Photos to put all the duplicates. Then tells you to select them all and delete them. The problem is, photos put in a separate folder are duplicates from the library. Deleting the photos in the folder doesn’t delete the photos in the library. (I tested this by following the steps exactly then running the duplicate finder again….it came back with 1,531 duplicates…even though it should be 0). I ran it all again, but changing the method to delete. Instead, once the duplicates were in their own folder- I selected all of them, marked them as favorites. Then deleted the duplicates folder. Then went to “favorites” where all my now duplicates were, selected all, right clicked to delete all. Then emptied the “recently deleted” folder. Ran the app again, came back with 0 duplicates. This worked well because I don’t mark photos as “favorites” so I didn’t delete any photos inadvertantly. Good free app with only one hiccup that I figured out in 5 minutes. Pleased.

I followed the instructions and it worked as promised. You do have to follow all the steps though. WARNING: If you’ve duplicated a picture and edited it (straightened, cropped, etc.), it still considers these duplicates and you can’t tell which one is which in the preview window, so you may be deleting the one you edited. Be careful. Other than that, it is a great product. Deleted over 1G of duplicate photos.

I was thinking about buying the $9.99 PhotoSweeper app, then ran across this. It is fast, accurate, and effective for removing exact duplicate files (I had a bunch from a bad import session). Does exactly what it says! They prompt you to buy the “pro” version, which checks for similar (but not exact duplicate) files. I didn’t need that. I would actually say this is suspiciously similar to Photosweeper in terms of UI, but it did what I wanted, so no questions asked.

Wow, what more can you say about this product? Some genius programmers at work to save us from killing ourselves in removing duplicate files. I had a mess from moving to a new computer and copying my old iPhotos Library to my Photos Library and then an accidental copying of them. In less than 5 minutes, problems solved. Bronze the code programmres they are code ninjas saving us mere mortals from endlss hours of wasted time in futility.

For whatever reason, I had to run it twice to get it to find all of the duplicates. The first time it ran, it found them all. Followed the instructions, and it looks like it worked. Ran it again just to be sure, and it found 0. Went to Photos, and the duplicates were still there. Tried to use my best Google-fu to find an answer outside of the app with no luck. The duplicates were only showing in the “mother” folder “Photos.” They weren’t seen in the “All Photos” album. Anyway, I ran the app again, and it found all the duplicates again. This time, for whatever reason, it did find them, and following the instructions, Photos did finally delete them all when told to.
